Scanning documents

Upload, extract, and review data from receipts, invoices, and handwritten notes.

How to upload a document

Go to Dashboard → Scan, then drag and drop your file or click "Upload" to browse. You can upload images (JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, WebP, HEIC, and more) or PDFs. ScanLedger's AI extracts text, tables, and structured data within seconds. OCR is powered by GPT-4 Vision by default, with Gemini 2.5 Flash as an alternative engine configurable by your admin.

Supported file formats

ScanLedger supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, WebP, HEIC, and PDF. For best results, use high-resolution images with clear text. Multi-page PDFs are supported and each page is processed individually. Max file size is 20MB per image or 50MB per upload.

Tips for better scan quality

Use good lighting with minimal shadows. Keep the document flat and square to the camera. Use a contrasting background. Make sure text is sharp, not blurry. For handwritten notes, use dark ink on white paper and avoid glare.

Batch scanning multiple documents

Select multiple files in the uploader to process them at once. Each document is processed independently and appears as a separate entry. Pro and Enterprise plans support unlimited batch scanning; the Free trial is limited to 5 scans per day.

Confidence scores and human review

Every extracted field is given a confidence score (0–1). Anything below 0.85 is flagged for your review. You can edit any field inline — once edited, the confidence score reflects your manual verification.
